Poster Sessions, Podium Session

Session Theme:

1. Ethics  or Context of Care in Perinatal or Pediatric Medicine

Contexts of Perinatal and Pediatric Care in the Texas/New Mexico-Mexico region: Impact of mother, child, health care professional and community contexts on the care of the mother and child (prenatal & postnatal)

Instructions for abstract submission:

  1. Deadline for abstract submission is September 3. 2021 @ 5:00 pm CT
  2. Presentations may be

(a)   Data driven- based on research findings or quality / performance improvement initiatives.

Data can be quantitative or qualitative

The sections for data driven abstracts are:

  1. Title
  2. Purpose
  3. Background
  4. Methods
  5. Results
  6. Conclusions

 

 (b) Program or case studies (models of care) with multiple perspectives related to perinatal care

The sections for program or case studies are:

  1. Title
  2. Purpose/Issue
  3. Statement of Objectives/strategies
  4. Description
  5. Evaluation or Lessons Learned
  6. Recommendations(next steps)

 2. All abstracts must be categorized into one of the following 2 areas:

  • Ethics in Perinatal or Pediatric Care
  • Contexts of Perinatal and Pediatric Care in the Texas/New Mexico region: Impact of mother, child, health care professional and community contexts on the care of the mother and child (prenatal & postnatal)

 3. All abstracts must include at least 2 learning objectives for the session. Abstracts must be limited to 250 words or less (excluding Title and learning objectives) and in Times Roman 12 point font.

4. Abstracts can be submitted for poster sessions. Posters should be standard presentation on powerpoint.  Only one slide.  Poster presenters will be given 5 minutes during the session to present and answer questions.

5. All authors will be notified about the status of their abstracts by September 17, 2021.  

6. Presentations will be online during 2 sessions: Poster Presentations Octorber 5, 2021 @ 11:00 am CT and Podium Presentations October 6, 2021 @ 11:00 am CT.

 

Primary Learning Objectives:

By the end of the scientific sessions:

  • the participants/audience will gain knowledge related to at least two issues related to the ethics of perinatal or pediatric care
  • the participants/audience will gain knowledge related to at least two contexts of perinatal or pediatric care which are critical to providing perinatal care in the Texas/New Mexico- Mexico border region.

Session Theme:

  1. Clinical Conundrum

Clinical Conundrums case submissions are limited to 3,000 characters or less (approximately 500 words). You may submit a maximum of two graphics or tables that support your submission. Cases will be presented in PowerPoint format. 

Guidelines:

  1. Cases will be selected for platform presentation on October 6, 2021.   If your case is selected you will be notified on September 17, 2021.
  2. You will need to create a PowerPoint slide presentation of your case if your submission is selected. You are encouraged to include imaging studies and photographs to illustrate your presentation. A template will be provided that must be used.
  3. Each case presentation will be limited to 15 minutes and after the panel and audience discussion, you will be asked to reveal the final diagnosis.
  4. Those not selected for oral presentation may have the opportunity to be selected for the poster presentations.
