 South Texas College, recognizes that  allowing companies to display commercial products and/or mention their products in the presentations does not imply ANCC Commission on Accreditation, Texas Nursing Association, Texas Perinatal Association, and South Texas College approval or endorsement of the company and/or their products.

 Corporate sponsors who wish to display their merchandise at the activity must agree to the posting of a statement indicating that such display of merchandise or product information  does not constitute endorsement by the  American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) or of the Texas Nurses’ Association (TNA).

“The activity has been submitted to the Nursing Faculty Development Program, South Texas College (NFDP-STC) for approval to award contact hours.  Nursing Faculty Development Program, South Texas College (NFDP-STC) – Approver is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.” In order to receive certificate of successful completion, participants must sign in and attend the full workshop.  Certificate will be awarded after receiving evaluations.

Objectives:

 At the end of the course, the participants will:

1. Discuss current trends and research in opioid use, morbidity and mortality in Texas

2. Describe the diagnosis and   management of infants with NAS

3. Discuss role of birth mother in care of infants with NAS

4. Discuss effects of opioids on breastmilk

5. Discuss Medication Assisted Treatment programs during breastfeeding

6. Describe special medication assisted treatment of opioid addicted pregnant women

7. Define and discuss the motivational interviewing in perinatal assessment

8. Discuss healthcare providers substance misuse

9. Describe personality type who are predisposed to drug addiction in healthcare
