Fight Prematurity in Texas
The Texas Perinatal Association is partnering with the Texas Chapter of March of Dimes in continuing to fight prematurity in Texas.
Each year in Texas, over 47,000 babies are born preterm.
The rate of premature birth in Texas has increased more than 13 percent in
the past decade and now stands at 12.7%, higher than the national rate of
11.9%. Prematurity/low birth weight is the leading cause of death in the
first month of life.
The Texas Perinatal Association is a private , non-profit voluntary organization dedicated to continued improvement in the quality of perinatal health care of the mother, fetus and newborn in Texas. Statements and opinions expressed in articles in The Perinatal Advocate are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the Editorial Board or TPA.
